MAG-25 was provisionally reactivated on 1 February 1950, with VMR-152 and VMR-352 attached, and subsequently served throughout the Korean War, which began with the North Korean invasion of South Korea on 25 June 1950.  VMR-152's forward echelon flew missions to the Korean Peninsula out of Itami, Japan.  Unlike during World War II, MAG-25's Korean War mission was focused mostly on cargo and personnel transport and involved relatively few casualty evacuation missions.  VMR-253 later served Stateside with the group, supporting Marine Corps personnel training operations from El Toro, until deploying to Korea to help with the post-armistice airlift.
