Headquarters Squadron 25

MAG-25 organized on 1 June 1942 at Camp Kearny, California, with VMJ-253 attached, and began arriving at Ewa, Hawaii, on 24 August.  It accompanied VMJ-253 to ​New Caledonia in September.  HqSq-25 formed the core of SCAT, which was activated in December 1942, its senior officer serving as SCAT commanding officer throughout the unit's existence.  The headquarters squadron remained at Tontouta until July 1944, when it moved to Bougainville.  In October 1945 it began relocating to China, ultimately based at Tsingtao.  MAG-25, including its headquarters squadron and attached service squadron, was deactivated on 31 May 1947.  The following commanding officers were all attached to HqSq-25:
