63rd Troop Carrier Squadron

Probably the least well-known of the flying units directly attached to the SOPAC Combat Air Transport Command, the 63rd TCS of the 403rd Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Forces, was attached to SCAT on October 10, 1943, in advance of the Bougainville Campaign.  Prior to that, the squadron had spent several months flying rear-area routes for the 13th Air Depot.  The squadron remained with SCAT until July 2, 1944.
